On their entry plan there is no bank reconciliation, no accountant access and no double-entry report — you cannot close a year on it. Nummo gives you all three on the first plan, for a dollar less, with no cap on how many clients you bill. We move your books across for you, free.
Their accounting sits above the invoicing as a paid upgrade rather than underneath it as the foundation. That is a difference in what the product is, not in how much it costs.
Lite is C$26 a month. It has no bank reconciliation, no accountant access and no double-entry report — those start on Plus. You can send invoices on it. You cannot close a year on it.
Starter is C$25 a month and posts real journal entries under every invoice and expense, reconciles your bank, and gives your accountant a free seat. The books are the product, not the upgrade.
A year of invoices is not a set of books. When your accountant asks for a trial balance, the answer has to exist — and on an invoicing tool it is rebuilt from scratch, by hand, at your expense.
Both prices are Canadian dollars, both are the published regular rate, and neither includes sales tax.
FreshBooks' Canadian prices and plan limits above were read from freshbooks.com on 17 October 2026: Lite C$26 a month, Plus C$42, Premium C$72, with billable clients capped at five and fifty on the first two. They run promotions and they change prices — check theirs before you decide, the same way you should check ours.
FreshBooks starts as invoicing and adds accounting above it — double-entry reports, bank reconciliation and access for your accountant all begin on the Plus plan. Nummo is a double-entry ledger first: every plan posts real journal entries, reconciles your bank and gives your accountant a free seat.
FreshBooks counts billable clients: five on Lite, fifty on Plus. Win a sixth client on the entry plan and the software, not your business, decides it is time to pay more. Nummo does not count your customers — a hundred on Starter costs what one costs.
FreshBooks sells payroll separately from every plan. Nummo Pro includes full Canadian payroll: CPP, EI and income tax from CRA's published tables, T4s and records of employment, Revenu Québec handled for Québec employees, and no per-employee surcharge.
Export from FreshBooks and send us the file. We bring your records across, and you check the result before you rely on it.
If you don't have a trial balance to tie to, that is fine — we build your opening balances from your bank, your receivables and your payables, and show you the workings.
Clients, items, invoices and expenses. Ten minutes at most.
Records land in Nummo; accounts map onto a proper Canadian chart.
We show you the opening position and where every number came from.
Keep FreshBooks read-only for the old records. Cancel it when you stop looking.
Every comparison page claims to win on everything, so here is the part of ours you can check. These are real gaps, they are on the build list, and none of them is an accounting feature.
And one on the accounting side, which applies whichever product you come from: we don't do live bank feeds. Every feed on the market works by holding your online banking password, and the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada warns that your bank's protection against unauthorized transactions may not apply once an app has your login. You send a statement file instead, and your password never leaves your hands.
If one of the five is what keeps you where you are, tell us which — it moves up the queue. What none of them changes is the thing this page is about: when the invoicing is done, somebody still has to close the books.
Start a free trial, or send us your FreshBooks export and see your own numbers in Nummo before you decide anything.
Tell us where your books live today and we'll show you exactly what switching looks like — usually a single call and a file.
