Terms of Service
This is the agreement between your business and ours. We have tried to write it in plain English — where a sentence is doing legal work, it says so rather than hiding behind it.

1. This agreement
These terms are between Nummo Financial Inc. (“Nummo”, “we”) and the business that opens an account (“you”). By creating an account or using Nummo, you accept them. If you are accepting on behalf of a company, you are confirming you are allowed to bind it.
2. What Nummo does, and what it does not
Nummo is accounting software. It keeps a double-entry ledger, calculates Canadian sales tax and payroll deductions from the tables published by the Canada Revenue Agency and Revenu Québec, and produces invoices, statements and year-end slips.
Nummo is not an accountant, and it does not move money. We do not provide accounting, tax or legal advice. Payroll produces a payment file that you or your bank submit; we never hold or transfer your funds. You remain responsible for what you file and for the accuracy of what you enter.
3. Your account
You are responsible for what happens under your account, including what the people you invite do in it. Keep sign-in credentials secret, use a strong password, and tell us promptly at [email protected] if you think someone has got in who should not have.
You must be at least 18, give us accurate registration details, and keep them up to date.
4. Accountants and other invited users
You can invite an accountant or bookkeeper into your books. They see and can change what their access level allows, until you remove them. Inviting a firm is your decision and your responsibility — we do not vet them, and the relationship between you is yours, not ours.
5. Your data belongs to you
Everything you put into Nummo stays yours. We claim no ownership of it. You grant us only the permission we need to host, process, back up and display it so the software works, and to do the things described in our Privacy Policy.
You can export your data at any time while your account is open, in standard formats. We think an accounting product that makes leaving difficult has failed on principle.
6. Paying for it
Nummo is a subscription, billed monthly or annually in advance through Stripe. A valid payment method is required to open an account. Prices are in Canadian dollars and exclude sales tax, which we add where we are required to charge it.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each period until you cancel. Cancellation, refunds and what happens to your data afterwards are set out in our Cancellation & Refund Policy, which forms part of these terms.
If a payment fails we will try again and tell you. If it stays unpaid we may suspend the account; we will not delete your books without notice.
We may change prices. For an existing subscription, a change takes effect at the start of your next billing period and we will give you at least 30 days’ notice.
7. Fair use
You agree not to:
- use Nummo to break the law, launder money or misrepresent your records;
- try to gain access to another business’s data, or to our systems beyond what your account allows;
- probe, scan or load-test the service without our written permission;
- resell or white-label Nummo without an agreement with us;
- copy, decompile or reverse-engineer the software.
8. Availability
We work to keep Nummo available and will give notice of planned maintenance where we reasonably can. We do not currently commit to a specific uptime percentage, and we would rather say that than publish a number we cannot stand behind.
We may change or discontinue features. If we remove something you depend on, we will give reasonable notice and, where it matters, a way to get your data out.
9. Our intellectual property
The software, the Nummo name and the design are ours and stay ours. Nothing here gives you a licence to them beyond using the service as intended.
Other companies’ names and logos belong to them. QuickBooks and QuickBooks Online are trademarks of Intuit Inc.; Xero is a trademark of Xero Limited; FreshBooks is a trademark of 2ndSite Inc.; Wave is a trademark of Wave Financial Inc.; Clio is a trademark of Themis Solutions Inc.; Caseware is a trademark of Caseware International Inc. Any other product or company name we mention is the trademark of whoever owns it.
We name those products on our website to compare them with ours and to describe moving your books across. That is nominative use — naming something in order to talk about it. It does not mean the owner endorses us, sponsors us, or has any association with us, and we don’t claim otherwise.
10. Ending it
You can cancel at any time from your account settings. We may suspend or end your account if you materially breach these terms, if your payments stay unpaid, or if we are legally required to.
When the account closes, export your data first. We delete it on the timetable in the Privacy Policy.
11. Warranties
We provide Nummo with reasonable skill and care. Beyond that, and to the extent the law allows, the service is provided “as is” without other warranties. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that a calculation relieves you of the duty to check your own filings.
12. Liability
Neither of us is liable to the other for indirect or consequential loss, or for lost profits, revenue or data, however it arises.
Our total liability to you, for everything arising out of this agreement in any twelve-month period, is limited to the fees you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.
Nothing in this agreement limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited — including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
13. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change materially affects your rights we will give you at least 30 days’ notice by email or in the product, and continuing to use Nummo after it takes effect means you accept it. If you do not, you may cancel.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. The courts of Ontario have jurisdiction, though nothing here removes a consumer-protection right you have under the law of your own province.
